Is a Credit Card Required?
Yes. No exceptions. Ever. Sorry, a couple of bad apples have ruined it for everyone. All gear rentals and all car rentals require a valid Credit Card. You can pay the balance with cash or debit card, but we will not release any rental items without a credit card deposit.
Where are you located?
Explore Rentals is located at 32 Dollar Drive, Belgrade, MT 59714. We are 1.2-miles (1.93km) east of the entrance to the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport, BZN. We are a stand-alone blue building on the north side of Frontage Road at the corner of Dollar Drive. We have a very large backlit sign that says “Explore Rentals.”
What are your hours?
Our hours are generally Monday through Saturday 9:00am – 5:00pm, Sunday 10-4pm. During the summer peak season, 8:30am – 5:30pm 7-days a week. We do offer after-hours pick ups and drop offs for our rental cars. If you are arriving after-hours, we will send all paperwork electronically (via Adobe Echosign) 2-days prior to your arrival, including BZN pick-up protocol. If you are ending the rental after-hours, the vehicle can be left at the office and keys dropping in our lock-box.
If you need to be at the airport prior/ post to our opening hours, you will leave the car in Premium Parking section E1, right across from arrivals, leaving the keys for us locked inside the vehicle. We will pick up the car with second set of keys and charge the balance of your rental to credit card on file.
All after-hours pick-up and drop-offs must be communicated with the office.
What is your mileage policy?
We allow an average of 175-miles per day. Any additional miles will be charged at a rate of $.20/ mile.
Can I pick up a rental car at your office and return it somewhere else?
No. All rental cars start and end at our one location in Belgrade, Montana- give or take a couple of miles by pre-arrangement.

Is towing allowed?
Yes, with some of our rental vehicles only, by prior authorization, with some weight restrictions, and for an additional fee. Please contact the office at 406-922-0179 to discuss.
Do your vehicles have GPS?
Generally, no. We have found over the years that GPS really is not beneficial in Montana. There aren’t many roads and paper maps are generally superior. Chances are you have an App on your phone anyway if you really want it.
Do you allow driving on gravel roads?
Yes, on county and state maintained gravel roads, which is the vast majority of gravel roads in the state of Montana. Traveling on unimproved roads or trails will void the rental agreement.
