Canyon Ferry, April 12, 2016
Well, it was time to see if the walleye were biting on Canyon Ferry. We put the boat in at the Silos about 2:00 pm and ran north 5-miles or so to see if we could get out of the wind/ rain a little bit and hopefully find some fish. We found plenty of fish on the sonar, but none that would eat. Jigs, crankbaits, bottom bouncers- didn’t matter. No trout, no walleye, no perch. Zip. Nada. Nothing.
We decided to call it quits at about 6:30 pm. As we were pulling the boat out, someone else was putting in. Super happy and friendly guy, with a seriously bad-ass walleye boat, who said they caught a dozen earlier and went home to avoid storm, and are back out to try to catch a big hen.
Conclusively we decided to try again and raced across to the southeastern corner. The Walleye train of boats was working the bank by the inlet, everyone we spoke to had caught fish. Just not us! We trolled crankbaits fruitlessly for an hour and called it quits. Not in the cards for us.
Just another day of paying dues and putting in the time!
