Renting a car in Bozeman

Pick-up and Returns

There here are two primary ways for you to pick up your rental car; at our office, or at the Bozeman Airport. The Bozeman Airport requires we charge the renter a 10% Airport Concession Fee for all rental cars originating on airport property. Depending on the season and weather we may be able to deliver vehicles to other locations via pre-arrangement and additional cost, please enquire with the office if this is your case and we will try to accommodate.

HOW TO PICK-UP YOUR EXPLORE RENTALS CAR

Pick-Up option #1: BZN PICK-UP, CONCESSION FEE PAID

  1. Your Rental Agreement will be emailed to you via Adobe Echosign to digitally sign at least one business day prior to your scheduled arrival. Your instructions are also on this Rental Agreement. We will print a copy and leave in the vehicle for you. We will not leave the rental car without this electronic contract being signed.
  2. About 15-minutes prior to your scheduled touchdown, we will park your rental vehicle in one of our dedicated parking spots (#46-49) outside of Arrivals and the covered parking garage. This parking lot is sign-posted the “Ride Share/ Car Share” lot and is on the East side of terminal (past the rental car counters).
  3. We will text the phone number provided on the Rental Agreement a photo of your exact car and combination to the lock box which will be on the driver’s side window. Please make sure the license plate in your photo matches the car you are going to. Many of our cars are identical, less the plate!
  4.  Unlock the lock box as per the texted instructions removing the key. Unlock and start the car. Roll the window down halfway, removing the lock box. Store in the center console for use on your departure.
  5. IMPORTANT! Prior to driving off, at the absolute minimum, take 4-photos of the vehicle, one from each corner documenting the condition of each side of the vehicle. These are for your records only, we have our own photos, no need for you to share. If something happens to the car, it is much easier to figure things out if you have your own condition reporting photos!
  6. Go have an excellent experience!
 

Pick-Up Option #2: OFFICE PICK UP, CONCESSION FEE NOT PAID

For rentals originating at our office, we do not need to charge the 10% BZN Concession Fee. You can take 7-minute, $15 UBER or LYFT to our office to avoid being charged this fee. Most renters will have the family wait for bags, and one person come over to office to pick up the rental.

  1. Your Rental Agreement will be emailed to you via Adobe Echosign to digitally sign at least one business day prior to your scheduled arrival. Your instructions are also on this Rental Agreement. We will print a copy and leave in the vehicle for you. You cannot pick up your car without the electronic contract being signed.
  2. About 15-minutes prior to your scheduled pick-up, we will park your rental vehicle out in front of our office (Explore Rentals 32 Dollar Drive, Belgrade MT 59714).
  3. We will text the phone number provided on the Rental Agreement a photo of your exact car and where the keys will be. Please make sure the license plate in your photo matches the car you are going to. Many of our cars are identical, less the plate!
  4. During our office hours, we will come out and say hi. You are welcome to come into the office, but it is not necessary. After hours, we will leave a lock box on the driver’s window and will have texted you the combination and access instructions prior to our close of day (5:00pm).
  5. IMPORTANT! Before driving off, please take an absolute minimum of 4 photos of the car (one from each corner showing each side of the car). These are for your records only, no need to share, we have our own. If something happens during your rental period it is much easier to deal with if we all have pre-rental condition reporting photos!
  6. Go have an awesome Montana experience!
 

Pick-Up Option #3: FBO PICK UP, CONCESSION FEE PAID

  1. At least 24-hours of your rental, please call the office or text 406-580-8309 your tail number, touchdown time, and which FBO you will be landing.
  2. Your Rental Agreement will be emailed to you via Adobe Echosign to digitally sign at least one business day prior to your scheduled arrival. Your instructions are also on this Rental Agreement. We will print a copy and leave in the vehicle for you. You cannot pick up your car without the electronic contract being signed.
  3. We will leave the keys for your rental car at the Concierge desk, they will drive out to the tarmac for you.
  4. IMPORTANT! Before driving off, please take an absolute minimum of 4 photos of the car (one from each corner showing each side of the car). These are for your records only, no need to share, we have our own. If something happens during your rental period it is much easier to deal with if we all have pre-rental condition reporting photos!
  5. Go and enjoy your time in Montana!
 

HOW TO RETURN YOUR EXPLORE RENTALS CAR

Return Option #1: BZN DROP-OFF, CONCESSION FEE PAID

  1. If you have paid the BZN Concession Fee, you may leave the vehicle in our designated parking spots, stalls 46 – 49, in the outdoor rental car return lot right outside of the Arrivals terminal and the Parking Garage.
  2. Fill up the fuel prior to entering returning the car; there is a fuel station .75-miles due South of BZN on Alaska Road, and one .65 miles due West on Frontage Road. If the fuel is not returned full, you will be charged a $15 fee PLUS the cost of fuel.
  3. When parked, and with the car still running, lower the driver window halfway and hang the provided lock box on the window, facing out.
  4. Roll window up, turn car off and remove key. Remove all personal belongings from the vehicle. With all doors and windows closed, lock the vehicle using the fob.
  5. Unlock the lock box, you were texted the combo when you picked-up the car. If the it is not working easily, you may need to press the “reset” button, which is the black unmarked plastic button and then try the combo again.
  6. Put the keys in the lock box, and lock it.
  7. Take at the absolute minimum 4-photos of the car (one from each corner) for your condition reporting records. Text us one (1!) photo documenting the time and condition you have left the vehicle. 406-580-8309.

Things to Remember: 

  1. Remove all of you personal PPE, tissues, etc. Handling other people’s ‘stuff’ is super gross.
  2. Make sure you take your own condition photos. If something happened, it is way easier to deal with if everybody has a record.
  3. Text us when you drop off the car. 406-580-8309. Not when you are boarding the plane, or back home.
  4. Have a safe trip home, and if you have a chance, write us a review!

Return Option #2: OFFICE DROP-OFF, CONCESSION FEE NOT PAID

  1. Simply park the car out front of the office, take condition photos of vehicle, text us 1 (one!) documenting the time and condition you left the vehicle, drop the keys off in lock-box to the left of the front door. That’s it!
  2. If you need to get back to the Bozeman Airport, or anywhere else, you will need to schedule an UBER or call a taxi. Sorry, we do not offer shuttle service (unless you pay the BZN concession fee). It is often easier to drop the rest of your party and luggage at BZN and return to the office to take an UBER/ taxi back for your departure.

Things to Remember:

Return Option #3: FBO DROP-OFF, CONCESSION FEE PAID

  1. Leave the keys with Concierge, we will come and pick it up.
