Most of the roads in Yellowstone National Park are now open for the year! Last week I took one of our Subaru’s on a day trip through the park mainly just to check everything out before the tourist season kicks into gear.

Currently the only road that is closed in the park is from Tower Falls south to Dunraven Pass, and continuing further south from Canyon to Fishing Bridge. The Lake Village area is currently accessible from the south via West Thumb. Tower Fall to Canyon is expected to reopen on May 26th.

Unfortunately, there is still construction going on this year between Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris. The park says expect delays of up to 30 minutes. Last week the delay was actually 20 minutes, however, last summer I went a few times and delays went all the way up to about an hour. This is something you want to account for if you are on a schedule, also to be noted is that this section of road will be closed during the night from 10pm until 7am from June 1st to September 10th. This delay is specifically between Roaring Mountain and Indian Creek Campground.

This year we will once again be providing free Bear Spray rentals for anybody with a Yellowstone National Park fishing license.
