I had the day off and had made plans to take out the water skeeter for some float fishing on the lower Madison. Most of the other stuff around here is blown out and not really fishing at this point and I was looking forward to a nice easy day of catching fish.

Beautiful day from sunrise on, I was up at 5:55 am making coffee and getting ready to set out.

I got to the Windy Point boat launch to start getting the ‘skeeter set up only to find out I have another leaky pontoon that needs patching. I scrapped that plan and packed everything back up and decided I would just fish on foot for the day. I fished a lower section that I like during the morning and did the best, pulling out 5 or so. I was fishing mostly big stuff, smacking it down behind rocks and close to the bank to really get a stir out of those bigger fish.

Took off during the heat during the day to stop for lunch and change spots. I rode out to Wade Lake since I was right there close to it just to see what it looked like post-winter, kill a little time and escape the ‘hustle and bustle’ of the valley (haha). It was a gorgeous day for it and hardly anybody out at the lakes.

Managed to pull out about 15 big beautiful fish all said and done. Even hooked into one that I completely lost. It was a monster rainbow. 23″+ easily. I’ll get him next time.

Had to do two quotes today. I’m working solidly for the next 4 days, hopefully, be back with another after that. Until next time folks!

PS, Thank you very much Hal E! I’m glad you and Bill enjoy my posts. See you this summer!
